‘Re:deckorate is an exhibition of recycled skateboards, reimagined and redesigned by talented artists, graphic designers, printmakers and photographers throughout the UK. Curated by re:ply Skateboards, the work will be sold to raise funds for skateboarding charity SkatePal'
My design surrounds the idea of Freedom, depicted in an illustrative and suggestive style. Aiming to use humour, I reflected on what epitomises the feeling of freedom for me – sleeping naked and wearing a kilt commando. To highlight the fact that ‘re:ply’ is a Scottish company, I decided to use the kilt and William Wallace as inspiration. This path led me to create a board which features both the Wallace tartan and an infamous quote from Braveheart, finished off with some distinctively Scottish assets.
